Sperm whales have names for each other

So apparently some scientists discovered that sperm whales use a unique clicking sounds to identify themselves and others when hunting. It was known that sperm whales had a unique code to identify themselves but the crazy thing is that they know the unique codes of each other so they can communicate to a specific whale. Weird...

Transgenic, Glowing Animals

Well if you keep up with the nobel prizes then this won't be news to you. I just heard of this so I assume a couple of you haven't heard of this either.

The winner of the Nobel in chemistry in 2008, Dr. Osama Shimomur, was awarded for discovering how to put green florescent protein from jellyfish into animals. It can make any animal glow under black lights. Imagine that at a rave. It's pretty crazy and apparently has lots of real life application to curing diseases.

3D Printer that can print Organs

The technology has been around for a while, but researchers recently began using it to create biological structures like organs. The idea is to use the patients cells to design organs that the body would accept creating no need for donor organs. Another possibility is that we will use it to grow meat. Imagine being able to print out a steak for dinner, that would be amazing!

Right now you can buy a 3D printer which doubles as a 3D scanner, the Fab@home, which allows you to email physical objects to other Fab owners and it will be printed out of your choice of silicone, cement, cake frosting, and even cheese.

New Species of Fish discovered (with hands)

Researchers with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, or CSIRO, have discovered nine fishs that use hands and feet to move about on the sea floor. This happened a while ago but this is the first I heard of it. Definitely helps prove the plausibility of evolution for those to blinded to believe it.

Scientist acheive the first step to mind control

A team at Harvard University found out how to use lasers to control worms, not full on movement control but they have been able to induce them to lay eggs. It's pretty crazy, check out the full story here.

Worlds oldest marijuana stash found

Well they found almost 2 pounds of weed in a 2,700 year old grave in the Gobi Desert. They did a bunch of tests on it and proved that it did in fact contain potent psychoactive properties (THC). This made scientists reevaluate their theory that back in the day they only used hemp to create clothes and rope etc. And another surprising thing was that this wasn't some bammer poo weed, by the size of seeds mixed in with the leaves, along with color and other characteristics, indicate the marijuana came from a cultivated strain. Meaning that this man picked out they male parts that are less psychoactive so it would be more chronic. No pipes or smoking devices were found so they believe they must of orally ingested it or fumigated it like the Scythian tribes north of them did. Although other cultures in the area used hemp to create random goods as early as 7,000 years ago, this find is proof that 2,700 years ago they were using it to get high.
