During the drive back to school after break I heard about some crazy things. Like this kid who uses echolocation to "see". He not only know where objects are but he could tell a car from a trashcan, he can throw pillows at people in a pillow fight and play videogames. It's pretty cool.
Another crazy thing I heard about is this research that some people are doing using the blind persons tongue to detect surroundings. It basically has a couple cameras that send little pulses to the tongue telling him where things are. Pretty insane if you ask me.

Most amazing CG ever, you won't believe it
A video I StumbledUpon. It's the most amazing computer graphics ever. I can't wait till we have computers fast enough to process games with this kind of visuals.

3D Printer that can print Organs
The technology has been around for a while, but researchers recently began using it to create biological structures like organs. The idea is to use the patients cells to design organs that the body would accept creating no need for donor organs. Another possibility is that we will use it to grow meat. Imagine being able to print out a steak for dinner, that would be amazing!
Right now you can buy a 3D printer which doubles as a 3D scanner, the Fab@home, which allows you to email physical objects to other Fab owners and it will be printed out of your choice of silicone, cement, cake frosting, and even cheese.

Hummingbird UAV
A tiny new unmanned air vehicle, The Hummingbird Nano Air Vehicle (NAV), has been developed by AeroVironment Inc. for the military. This bird has a camera and can fly very smoothly, around indoors and out. Also think about trying to shoot that thing down, it would be very challenging. New Call Of Duty killstreak reward?

Scientists built first Anti Laser
It's pretty crazy, scientists have discovered a way to create a device that is capable of absorbing an incoming laser beam entirely. It is not intended to be used against high-power laser weapons but who knows when we might have to fight off aliens. They say it could be used in supercomputers that have ways of using light rather than electrons.

Move your mouse with your eyes!
Welcome to the future.
They are making contact lenses that track your eye movement to move the mouse. You know Steven Hawking's stoked. It's crazy, I never thought I would see something like this, now I want to play some video games with it.
I do have a couple questions though, (1) how do you click, I assume it correlate with blinks or something but who knows, and (2) I heard that the only animal who can track mouse movement on a screen is a pig, what would happen if you put these tech lenses on a pig...?
I saw this on a great blog that I follow, Crackin Stuff from the Web, check it out

Holographic FIFA games to broadcast?
So I just read an article on CNN about japans plan to broadcast the next world cup in 2022. I took out some parts that are pretty interesting.
"At the heart of Japan's bid is a plan to broadcast entire games to stadiums on the other side of the world in what appears to be life-sized holograms... Japanese organizers say each game will be filmed by 200 high definition cameras, which will use "freeviewpoint" technology to allow fans to see the action unfold from a player's eye view -- the kind of images until now only seen in video games.
Meanwhile on the terraces, supporters will be able to use in-ear computerized translators to talk freely to fans from other countries -- a device that mimics the "Star Trek's" universal translators or the Babel Fish of "Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.""
If your intreiged then heres the full article.
