New theory says that 'Tractor Beams' are possible

My friend showed me this article from BBC news talking about how it is known that lasers can be used to push objects but they just found out that it is possible to pull objects towards the laser as well. I can see lots of uses for this technology so I hope they improve it.

Transgenic, Glowing Animals

Well if you keep up with the nobel prizes then this won't be news to you. I just heard of this so I assume a couple of you haven't heard of this either.

The winner of the Nobel in chemistry in 2008, Dr. Osama Shimomur, was awarded for discovering how to put green florescent protein from jellyfish into animals. It can make any animal glow under black lights. Imagine that at a rave. It's pretty crazy and apparently has lots of real life application to curing diseases.

Scientists built first Anti Laser

It's pretty crazy, scientists have discovered a way to create a device that is capable of absorbing an incoming laser beam entirely. It is not intended to be used against high-power laser weapons but who knows when we might have to fight off aliens. They say it could be used in supercomputers that have ways of using light rather than electrons.

Scientist acheive the first step to mind control

A team at Harvard University found out how to use lasers to control worms, not full on movement control but they have been able to induce them to lay eggs. It's pretty crazy, check out the full story here.

Scientists turn E. Coli Bacteria into Hard Drives

Yup, its what the title says, Chinese scientists are learning to turn bacteria into data storage devices. "The team has devised a way to encrypt and store information in the DNA of bacteria to such an effective degree that they say just one gram of E. coli could store the same amount of data as 450 two-terabyte hard drives." That is crazy futuristic. They even have a three tier sercurity system devised so there could be no cyber threats. Another interesting thing is that since bacteria keeps replicating theoretically they could store data reliably for millennia. I wonder if were going to find some hidden data infused in our own DNA left from some alien speices that's been extinct.
